A mate has stripped exhaust thread on his Mugello barrel

What's the best type of thread repair kit to use in this area (lots of heat!), helicoil, timesert etc.

Be good to hear feedback from someone whose done similar repair, that held!

i haved drilled the hole out 7mm and re-tapped it m8,make sure you use a plug tap to finish the hole off,to get maximum thread area,
also you can use a readily available m8 allen bolt head screw,and drill the head for lock wiring,these are cheap and readily available,
not like the m7 ones sold on ebay at extortionate prices,hope this helps,cheers all.

Retapped mine m8 and got a precision engineers to machine m8 stud one end and m7 on other end. I think, actually, a dealer out there, maybe beedspeed sells such studs.

think you can get oversized studs,or just drill out the exhaust stub flange 8mm,give the drill a wiggle and should take a m8 thread with a nice tight fit.

Yes beedspeed do sell them I needed one a few weeks ago

I've heard the Mugello cylinders are particularly prone to this thread stripping problem, so anyone like to comment, or is this just pub talk?!?!

I don't think its just Muggies- any alloy cylinder is going to be more prone to this problem than a cast iron cylinder
