Hi all, I understand you can buy something to stop tanks leaking? I've just fitted a long range tank but it has a slight leak n one of the seams.

Any recommendations please?

Cheers :fb:

If its not been used, would it be better to have it welded? By the place which supplied it? It could be fibreglass or secondhand I suppose. Recently discussed:

tbh .. i find tank seal to be a last resort solution .. if its new send it back .. second hand then far better to get it welded

As advised already get it welded it will only get worse.

I used this stuff that lasted for 18 months

Then I got it welded - same chap that supplied it - top fella did it FOC!

Cheers Guys, it is new so I'm gonna return it once my other one turns up. That will teach me to buy cheap off eBay!

Is it 1 of the stainless standard looking long range tanks? IE with the lip? I've seen a lot of these including my own, and all had cracks or some other defect. As others have already said, welding is the best permanent solution, preferably TIG.
All but 1 had cracks in the tank where the fuel tap thread is fitted. I took 1 back to a dealer only to be offered 2 more with the same defects, so I got a refund. I then bought a second hand 1 for half the price and repaired it.
