Another question from me...

My hub failed on the way home from Time, Trouble and Money :O (as Red knows, thanks again ) Just wondering what peoples opinions are on what hub to use. Would people feel its best to find a Serveta rear hub or should i go for one of those reiforced rear hubs? Dont want to have another situation like this weekend. Thanks once again.

Usually recommended to go for Serveta/gen SIL from SR/gen UNI from AF.
Arent there some compatability issues with the Tino/Safe hubs?

I have a Uni on mine as at the time I couldnt find a Serveta one.

Scooter restorations did have some sil hubs in about £55 . I have a uni in my gp was told it was next best thing mate . Take it you are ok mate . Col

Had a layshaft snap on me a couple of years ago and it's not nice.

just goes to show even got the locking ring still in situ,if the cone and spline is not in good order there is no way the locking ring will hold it all together!

I'm not sure if Jordan had put the locking ring back on to the hub before I got there.

The cone was worn to f@@k so may also have contributed to this.

He had the scoot on the dyno at Scunthorpe and someone told him that the rear wheel was wobbling but about 6 people had a look and told him it was OK !!!!!!

He was lucky that he was slowing down on the M180 at the junction for the M18 when this happened.

He also needs to change his layshaft that has slightly damaged splines and it looks as though the nut had been cross threaded.

No the lock ring was still hanging on... And rather Tightly... Like i said to you Red, i think the problem was caused by the lock ring comming loose on the way to lincoln causin some wear to the cone. Which then allowed some play in the hub, which gradually got worse whilst riding and reasulted in this. But once home, i re did what was done at lincoln but this time used loctite.

Yes i had it on the dyno and about half a dozen people gave the rear wheel and hub a good shaking and there was no sign of any play. But the split rim had a sheared stud so i swapped for that, thinking the problem was cured. But clearly not.
