I'm running a Serveta Jet 200 stage 4 tuned with a dellorto 28 carb. I have been using an AF Clubman but I'm getting to the age (and the new family status) where it's just way too loud. I really only get to ride in town in the evenings when my baby daughter has gone to sleep and I don't want to wake her every time I leave or come back. I threw back on my under the kickstart Fresco but it's still pretty freakin' loud so I have gone back down to an Indian Big Bore with a bit of a performance loss but noticeably quieter. How does the sound of the higher end pipes like the JL or the Devtour compare to the AF Clubman. I'm in Canada and nobody in my town has one so I can't just go have a listen. Even the Indian Big Bore is loud, but not nearly as bad as the AF

Alternately, the original exhausts had a layer of matting between the outer shell and the inner steel mesh which none of the clubmans have. Anyone ever tried cutting a clubman open and adding the matting ?

I've been following the MBD/BGM Clubman development but the radio seems to have gone silent on that one for now.

If the Fresco is an original one they are a lot quieter with the tail can repacked with new wadding although the main body is thin so you tend to get a" ring- ding- ding" from it.Other than that why not start and stop the scoot down the street?

I was talking to Mark Broadhurst a couple of weeks ago in his shop and from what he said the MB/BGM exhaust is imminent. I saw the pre production u pipe and stub manifold and they were excellent and indistinguishable from Mark's own hand made originals. The quality was excellent and Mark assured me these will not only perform really well but will be quiet.

I certainly want one and I believe there are 150 pre orders.

Without going back to standard ..its difficult to advise on any performance pipe as they all are louder than standard.. ..id maybe suggest you push the scooter to the top of the street before starting and then coast home with the engine cut..

I live down a cul de sac and am very careful early in a morning when using the scooter for work, I tend to (when warm) set off and quickly work through the gears to 3rd/4th to keep the din down (I use a PM25)

or you could fit the baby with ear defenders

With the Fresco that's exactly it, I've repacked the can but the body is so thin that the can doesn't do much. The Indian big bore is reasonable, I don't necessarily need stock muffler quiet, but my AF Clubman is stoopid loud. I'm on the email list for when the new MB/BGM clubman comes but this is Canada, our riding season ain't that long.

I like PM pipes, they're well made and quiet too.
