Removing my disc brake

I drive a px200 disc an I fkn hate that auto looking front hub.
It seems it has to be there for the disk to work, so I think the disc should go.
I hardly need a front disc brake on a bike that does 70 when I'm wearing a flappy jacket with the wind behind me.
Other than getting an older hub do I have to change out the forks to match or any other things anyone can think of ?

you can change to an old style hub easy enough by simply removing the circlip inside the hub and taking the disc set up of and sliding on a drum as long as its a 20mm spindle version and not an early 16mm one , imho tho i wouldnt change it for a drum just because of looks , the disc is a great improvement on a vespa for a front brake and you should really use your front brake more oftain but im not here to lecture you on your riding style ,hope this helps 8-) oh and youll have to change your headset to a non disc one to lol

What would the difference in braking capabilitys be ? Ugly or not is their a massive difference like on a lammy ?

although front drum hub better on a vespa , i'd rather have a front disc for stopping power, i use my fron 99% of the time, yes Andy , it a big difference

Have a look at an LML vespa (yes i know they're not called vespa anymore) , they have a disc but with old style hub.

Or put a T5 style hub cap on..

Know exactly what you mean with the PX disc "star" auto type hubs....they look awful & I hate them as well... :evil: ! Another option is to a fit a Grimeca 80's style hub....the ones that came with the semi-hydraulic disc brake kits in the 80's.....They are actually Pentagon shaped but with the raised lines on the outer exposed hub face, they look spot on 8-) . I have one on my PX210 (profile picture)...Recently saw a complete kit on e-bay go for around £120.....make sure you bin the fork mounted master cylinder though & just run it from your headset master cylinder via your existing hydraulic hose....Pretty sure that SIP actually sell the hub sepearately under the name "Grimeca Classic" disc brake kit... :idea: [they did in 2009 when I built my PX210 anyway]....or alternaively go for an LML hub set up as previously suggested if this is easier......Never undersood why Piaggio made such an asthetic disaster with what what was a revolutionary design step forward in putting a hydraulic disc brake on a such a popular machine.......when you have swopped your star / auto hub, may I suggest you weigh it in for scrap & melt in down for recycling into designer cock-rings... :)

when I did a disc for my mk1 t5 used a lml hub, looks fine eddy bullet sorted me for this, think about £40? saves arseing around changing the headset to cable, and then you can sell the 5 star hub!
