I've just come back for a spin 'round the block after dark and my headlight points right into oncomming driver eyes and dosen't light up the road. I've 'persuaded' (squeezed it tighter) the adjustment spring as much as I can and it helped a little but I still more downward action, any suggestions?

i thought the tilt was at the bottom on the screw that leads to earth try messing about with that i.e stronger spring /washers behind /infront .then test it out on a wall x in middle of main beam of light mark the wall then try and lower it .best i can offer at the moment .

i used a longer screw in the bottom with a nylock on the end not to adjust just incase it come loose and the screw falls out my top spring is crimped nearly flat to get the correct adjustment some people just wrap wire around the instead of the spring so as to pull the top of the light as close as poss to the rim

I was tackling this same problem last night. I used a thin O ring instead of the spring, but even this is a bit crap.

I've got the MoT on Saturday and I may have to have another fettle before then. If I come up with a solution, I'll post again.

I've been having a think about this, the solution seems quite simple, the adjuster on the bottom works in a 'pulling' fashion, re-engineer it to a 'pushing' fashion and that can only tilt the light down-right? I just haven't quite figuered out how to do it .... But an idea is brewing

Mr MoT man didn't like my headlight. Far too high. I adjusted it and it was still too high. He was going to fail me, but I told him that I was taking the bike apart as soon as I got home to fit the bodywork. He turned a blind eye to it. Phew.

I wonder if you could fit a small but strong spring on the adjuster screw so that it pushed the headlight away, rather than just pulling it. You wouldn't need anything at the top of the light .... would you?

(I'm still trying to get my head around this one.....)

I think the lamp may fall backwards from the rim as the top spring is to counter the pull of the bottom adjusting screw.

MOT this morning..I was shi!ting myself after reading this last night...turned the screw as far as i could and guess what......turned the headlight on..fu(k me he says never seen a bright headlight on these mod bikes before (halogen bulb), he was that impressed he must have forgot to do the height test PPHHEEWW..But he did say my back brake was guf..But its not as if these puff chariots go over 40 mph is it kid...Ye sign the form dickhead I thought...So Pm ye Martin at the weekend (Payday) for one of your lovely back brake cables....Passed though

the fitting on the bottom needs to be a lug with a hole in it as viewed from the side and that round nut placed through it so it would push or pull in either direction id say it needs something to act on on the top though to give tension the spring sounds good i had to grind the rim to get the glass through enough on mine and use a longer screw
