If you get it done make sure you get it done by somebody used to doing scooter stuff or you will end up trying to get it off bits where it don't belong. Also make sure you put old bolts in every thread the blasting and coating can make a mess of your threads if not done properly.

Most powders cure at 180 C ish, so don't use it on any surfaces that are going to see temperatures even close to that.

coating should be ok on engine block,chain case,mag flange, rear hub
any recomendations as to who is used to doing this work?

Pros:
Looks choice.
Easy to clean.

Cons:
If it's not done right, it'll bubble when it's hot, and look cack.
If it's not done right, it'll chip off at the edges.
If it's not done right, blah.. heaps of things.

When mine was first coated, it looked fabulous. The main bit of the case was coated about twenty five years ago. The chain case, about eight. The chain case was coated somewhere else, and now looks like a dog's dinner. The main case is still spot on.
It's easy to clean. Spray with degreaser.. wipe off with a soapy sponge.

25 yr old stuff is much more likely to be stove enameling than powder coat.

I had this on mine for 20 years, on steel it's good but on the alloy it can 'go' underneath and ends up coming off in large chunks where the alloy has corroded underneath like this -

so is paint a better option on chain/engine casings?? wanted to do mine red so would be good to know

What I'm saying is that there's pros and cons and things you need to be aware of when you decided to add a coating, either stoving or powder coating. As with anything preparation is key to finish and longevity and masking is important too. Powder coat is a pig to remove if you've got it somewhere it doesn't belong like inside your hub bearing faces or brake drum.

Specialist scooter people like Midas Touch or Elite would be my choice now having used local places who have no experience other than doing alloys.

I just had some stuff done by a local place and they didn't mask it up properly, spite being told they would, and it cost me time in my rebuild. So on the whole though I'm satisfied with the finish for what I paid for it and I didn't have to pay postage I had to tap threads which had been coated and remove coating from things like the disk pins which hadn't been masked -

Out of interest.. why do you want to coat it at all?
