TV back brake light problem

Some advice needed to get my TV (in the avatar) mot'd and then registered (stupid rule)
problem I have is everything works except the rear light goes very very dull when the brake light goes on.I have swapped the wires over and I get back light, brake light but no headlight. My battery is not connected, would this make any difference if not what about led bulbs? It is still 6V system but can't afford to change just now,it seems the system doesn't have the power to do everything, could it be stator, flywheel?.
Other than this I could get a daytime mot but I will still have the problem.
