using offset cones, bgm shock, franspeed race, 3mm packing plate on a rb25. due to the longer shock length the pipe is touching the stand bracket on the kickstart side. have ground down the bracket to gain a few mm but still touching.standard shock is fine but have already shelled out for the bgm and would like to use it.any advice or tips before i take a hammer to the pipe??

I had a bit of trouble fitting my Franspeed tourer on my RB22 with out a base packer, 107 rod used, i didnt have a BGM on at the time but do now, i think they are a tight fit anyway and the extra 3mm the packing plate has moved the exhaust port forward wont be helping matters, IMO the BGM shocker isnt the problem, its the 3mm plate. A mate of mine fitted one with a 2mm base plate, 110 rod used, and had trouble, he doesnt use the BGM. I used to have a series 2 shocker on which are a nats longer than the BGM, try a series 3 escort on it to see if it will clear it then, regards.

im not familiar with the pipe dimentions and front cone sizes but i always use a yamaha shock, these are 300mm long i have never used offset cones and i have a reed packer pipes used on my TS1 are pm28, nk and jl3 and 4 also tried a md one might have been a revtour.
what lenght eye to eye is the shock

tried an original series 3 shock and it cleared by a cm or so. i'm running a 110mm rod so the 3mm packing plates are needed to achieve the recommended 1.5mm squish.i think i may use a side stand to solve the problem.
cheers Simon

Its a shame that you have to use a side stand Simon, its a pity that theres not more clearance built into these exhaust,s from the off to allow for base packers and the differences in the length of some engines, they are tight at the best of times. regards.
