SII Li150 with Casa kit won't start when warm ...

Howdy,

My Lammy starts okay from cold, maybe 3 or 4 kicks. But if I stop even after a short run, it won't start again until cool .... unless I find a hill or get a decent push that is.

The kit should be run in now and was going well until it died a while back. Went in the shop and had oil seal replaced, also new crank at the same time. Been like this ever since.

Any ideas chaps?

Ta,

Dan

Wrong grade of spark plug / wrong gap, Dirty air filter, (includes poor quality air filters that are either too small, or incorrect paper elements)
Incorrect points gap / wrong timing, Worn rings / worn piston bore, Float needle worn, Throttle slide worn, Wrong pilot jet size / blocked pilot jet.
Choke on, either worn choke or check choke cable is adjusted correctly, Air scoop blocked, or wrong size scoop / airbox for carb.
Break down of coil, Break down on pick on on electronic kit.

Take your pick out of any of these. Good luck. :bigsm:

I had a problem with mine...same symptoms....I changed my spark plug for a colder one and never had a problem since. I was using an 8 plug...now using a 9

As ststed above, there are numerous reasons for poor warm starting but a trick you can try if all else fails is to turn your petrol off maybe 50 yards or so before stopping. When re-starting leave the fuel turned off until it fires up.

Blimey, that's a lot of options

A bit more back ground … after the kit was fully run-in and going okay it just died at the lights and wouldn't kick-over at all. Can't have been a seize as it was only a short-run at low speeds around town. Since then it's been in the shop and had new seals and bearings.

Plug that was in before was a 7 and is a 7 now. Could try using an 8, think I already have one at home somewhere. It had a 12v conversion at when it was kitted so no points anymore. Choke looks okay. Will try and have a butchers at the other stuff but I think most of that was checked in the shop, it was just re-jetted last week.

Will do, ta. Will also give the fuel cut-off trick a go.

If you're running a carb with a filter, try disconnecting the rubber elbow from the carb. If it then starts I would look at reducing your jetting a bit. [Don't be tempted to run without the filter though, or you could hole a piston.]
I've found Mugellos to be prone to this in the past.

Sounds to me that your choke is stuck open (on)....
