Looking at building a TS1 motor and was wondering what your views were on cranks and what type / size carb to use, any views welcome

There are loads of options,depends what your aim is.

Decent motorway cruiser,balls out racer etc etc

No doubt you'll get loads of differing opinions.

What ever you decide don't let me have a go as it'll end in tears or flames

Lol.... thinking of the odd rally and a few local ride outs - and the odd blast, so I guess a bit of a all rounder although like you say - it will all end in tears but hey isn't that part of the fun (apparently)

And, what do you want a TS1 to do that your existing one doesn't?

Just a box standard SIL 200, pretty slow and seized a few times now would like something with a little more uummpphh and TS1's have been around for a long time and seem pretty tried and tested

as mentioned, loads of different TS set-ups.

mine, 32mm del,pm30 exh,A/F crank, bgm stator.

think it would be best to give A/F a call too.

Where are ya mate?

Plenty of engine builders out there can give ya plenty of advice.

Personally I use Jason Frost of Absolutely Scooters of Sheffield.

He's on here so send him a message and see what options he can give ya.

The other factor is how much do ya want to spend and how much of it do you want to do yourself?

Can't fault ya for going down to TS1 route as they're a proven kit and if it works for me it has got to be good :biggrin: :biggrin:

Both my TS1's are ported but as I remember a basic TS1 225 set up right should get you around 20 - 24 hp. Any decent carburetor 30 - 35 mm gives good performance. I've standardised on Mikuni TMX 35, great throttle response and power and easy to set up. The exhaust you choose will have the most effect on the engine's performance and running characteristics. There are loads of options, sounds like a good road exhaust would suit you I'd recommend a DevTour. SIL GP200 is a very good gearbox for TS1, maybe just go up to a 19 tooth front sprocket. SIL cranks are very good to use with rod kits, like a 110mm Yamaha, but don't use a standard one. Lots of options for cranks as well but you could build a nice one with what you already have. Keep in mind they're plated alloy barrels so if it goes bang the repair costs are pretty high.

my set up ts1 mb fast road tune 35mm tmk carb franspeed race pipe six plate clutch 58mm racecrank rb con rod fitted li 150 gearbox 47/17 sproket pulldown chain tensioner high load bearings fitted bgm stator,dont forget about you will need to uprate your suspension brakes tyres fuel tank...go for it :anbrgin;
