Gearing

Hello,

running a Monza 225 with an ADS3 (touring) pipe and gearing is SX200 with standard 15-46, so 4,8.
This is inadequate so I'm lookin to upgear.
Would I dare go to 16-46 and try 4.4 with the SX200 box and risk not having enough power to clear the 3rd-4th gear gap, or do I go to 17-46 and run an Li150 box with a better 3rd-4th gap but only upgear to 4.6 with the chance 4th is still too short and the bike still revs out?

Before you have book full of advice from people on here, you've not asked MB Developments already, have you?

If you have, there'll be a flurry of Facebook activity within the next few hours..

I too run a ADS3, and found that 4.4 was the only final drive ratio that worked with the pipe to get a decent top end.

The tune on my motor is a torquey tune on a Suzuki 190 with 60mm crank.... Pulls no probs in 4th.

16-46 on the Sx200 box would give you 4.52 final drive, pulling 70 at 6200 rpm. The ADS3 falls off a cliff at about 6k, so 70 would be just about top wack.

The problem that I have with the pipe and 4.4 gearing is town riding, but great for open road.
