Damper Studs

Are there any tricks for repairing the threaded housing for the damper studs on a disc link? I've had a damper rip a stud out and while a good one will tighten if screwed fully home I don't consider it's enough to firmly anchor it given that the rest of the thread is now loose. My initial thought was that maybe you could tap it out and use an oversize stud. Is there such a thing?

I think I've read that MB are making 8mm to 6mm studs, possibly on their facebook page. Imagine std are 7mm to 6 mm.

nev if you dont want them welding you might be able to tap them to 9 or 10mm and screw that in then get the center drilled out to 7mm again i have drilled them out befor and done this then welded the top and re tapped however the chroming will get burnt of and wellbright dont replate anymore

Very handy. I can't find any reference to them, but it's certainly worth looking into.
