I recently bought a pair of SIP tubeless rims already fitted with their brand tyre. Was a good deal and their tyres are nice. Reason I held off was I was a bit intimidated about having to take the studs out. Friends of mine that have done it before said it was a huge pain in the ass. I tried double nutting them, but the studs are really not long enough for that. I could not figure out how to hold the rum in my vice. I was about to grind down the bevelled edge off a good socket when I had an idea. I put the stud head in the vice. It held. So I pulled the hub towards me and surprisingly enough it moved easily. I did it once more and then finished removing it with a spanner. I thought it might be a fluke, but did both hubs in under 10 minutes. The rear was a stock '74 jet 200 and front scootrs disk. I regret not taking a picture of the hub in the vice, but this is what it looked like with the stud.

Good work David! I often struggle to hold a bottle of rum as well, the vice is the best place for it

i did the same for my rear hub.. no problems..

but an original disk front hub with the original studs in proved more troublesome.. i did it eventually after much use of the vice, the blowtorch, ground off sockets, hex sockets rather than star-type, pipe freezing liquid, WD40, a drill, a tap, a bigger drill, a punch, cold chisel, hammers of varying sizes.. and much bad language..

i managed to get them all out after several weeks of losing my patience and having to walk away before i knacker a valuable hub, and kept the holes and threads intact..

I had the same problem I was lucky I had a spare disc hub which I could do at my leisure, as you don`t want to damage one of those now do you.

Hi I got all my studs out with a spanner really easy .

Failing all the above methods on very oxidised studs screw a 8 mm nut on the stud and weld it on ( mig better than gas) making sure it penetrates the nut/stud and then turn it anti clockwise . when it cracks work back and forward with lubricant as to try save ali thread in the hub. Cut off the stud just below the welded nut when free enough to remove with hex of the stud.

Anybody know the size and pitch of the left hand thread on the SIP stud . Turns out mine on the rear hub are 1mm smaller so I need a tap
