This scoot I built yeah.....i took it to this fella who has a rolling road, dyno you know what I mean. Got the carb set up nice & he wound it up to 75 mph. I was quite impressed. But. I had a new AF stator plate which was dodgy, the bike ran crap when the lights were off but ok when they went on, now it wouldn't start when it was cold on the kickstart so he got the back wheel on the rolling road & bumped it to get it running. Set all the jets, needle etc & it runs lovely & smooth when riding, but the f@@ker wont start in the morning & I spend 3-4 minutues pushing the c**t & bump starting it. Now I have a fault free stator they sent me , when i fitted it, it started 1st kick from cold & went lovely. But now I'm back to bump starts again, and there seems to be a fair bit of fuel on the footboard. Its starts fine when warm.

help.....please.

Check the choke jet is clear and the plunger is lifting when turning it on.

And that the little rubber bit in the bottom of the choke plunger hasn't fell out causing a blockage.

What spark plug are you using.....I have a 9 in mine which takes some kicking off sometimes, but when I put an 8 in, it starts easier....I just cant be bothered to change it

Just had a problem with my choke lever turning (cable type) but the nut was slack on the back and the whole mechanisim turned but the cable didn't lift the choke. tightend nut and choke now works fine....have you tried the old "cloth in carb mouth" to start...if it works with the cloth in (restricting air flow) then the choke will be the most likely cause

Gonna try the things mentioned, cheers lads. If left for 24 hours or so, it fires first kick for about a second, with choke on, but after that I may as well try starting it with the key in my pocket..
