A hydraulic brake works on hydraulic pressure so i would have thought removing that seal was a no no.
If you mean your getting a drop of fluid on your handlebar lever most likely cause is the master cylinder seals. Even if its new these can get damaged if someone has been working the lever without any fluid to lubricate in there.

If the drip is coming from the banjo bolt then try new copper washers first, if the seals have gone then you would not get a drip it would just not work.

I was thinking of the other end :? try a new seal kit you dont want it to fail when you need it.
