Has anyone brought a new SX headset from TSR, they advertise them on ebay with chrome ring included. They look okay on the pics but want to know what they are like in the flesh.

I can't say for sure they were the TSR ones, although it's likely, but I've had a close look at these headsets at a parts fair and I must say I was impressed by the quality. I think if you go to their e.Bay shop you might find photos of them there.

They do look spot on and with a matched rim. Seem quite good value considering the price of an origonal.

I can't speak for the tsr ones, but I had a remade one that came with a project I brought. The headset came with a headlamp rim only and was an extremely good fit and so was the top to bottom. But it was smaller than an Italian and Spanish one that I checked it against, after I had no end of problem with it. First the control rod were to long as the headset was narrower from grip to gria Speedo didn't fit between the control wheels and requireda lot of fettling.
The bottom fouled the front of the horncast and required fettling. All in all, a lot of f**king about. But as I said I don't know the origin and I would say it was about 5/6 years old.

When i was young my Mom said "if you haven't got anything nice to say, say nothing at all " ..................... and people wonder why I'm quiet around them !
the problem russ describes is due to the remades being copied from an orriginal and is caused by shrinkage of the ally when it cools after casting ,the innocenti tooling will have been made bigger to account for this

A mate of mine has got one fitted to his scoot and it looks good however he has had a few dramas with alignment issues with the internals,Dont get me wrong he got over them with the usaul Dremal here and file there which is what seems to be considered the norm with remade parts
,but if i was to be honest i would save and get an original set.

Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there`s a 90% probability you`ll get it wrong.

Not what i wanted to hear, i have brought 2 and sold both as neither fitted correctly and these were both innocenti ones. Was hoping these would be okay as far as fitment was concerned, hadnt thought about the internals not being true.
Think i will need a bit more info on the TSR ones before i splash the cash.....

The abriged version is that after 2 bottoms and two tops, neither fitted how i wanted. decided to put them on ebay and let someone else fettle them. Was hoping the TCR ones would be okay. Looks as though there are no gaps but other issues as posters have pointed out.
Im leaning towards selling what i have got, then waiting till a chrome ring one comes up and getting that. Failing that i may wait for Wicksteed Park.
