I have been asked by a lot of people why this was made, was it just to get the holes to line up?
The actual reason this was made was because coming home from the last holiday in holland my rear hub came undone doing 80mph on the motorway. On inspection the points on the indian lock ring had cut thru the edges of my nut allowing it to unscrew, this meant my nut was rounded off where the lock ring sat,I bodged it and got home safely.
This washer supports all sides of the nut. So this cannot happen again and the strategically spaced holes also means you don't have to overtorque your nut to get a hole to line up.
I hope this clears a few mis-informed peoples minds.
