I am pretty much in final stages of the build. Me and my dad have sorted the electrics, the headlight I have is a sealed unit m, but its a 6 volt unit. It doesn't work with my system, I guess the bulb has blown. Was there ever an potion for a headlight unit that wasn't sealed? If so does any one have one?

Never heard of a sealed unit you couldn't change the bulb in...

a lot of servetas had them.. my "performer" has one and the lights are excellent

speak to antony at buzzsolomoto, he will probably have a "standard" reflector that will take a normal bulb

Sorry I forgot to ask, did serveta do a 12v sealed unit?

Why would you want a sealed unit? You are doomed to change the whole unit every single time. I would personally aim for a standard refflector. I imagine yours in a late ORBAR model with the fibreglass headset? All or most of those models had 12v.

Yeah I've seen some remade jet type lights, but the non sealed type. So I'm going to get one.

in 1980, the most common glass/refflector combo was one made by "fores". Fores was a Barcelona electrical component maker that died off shortly after. You can keep the headlamp rim, just get a refflector and glass with a CEV junction. You should be ok.

There was a time in the 1970's and into the 1980's when the US DOT (Department of Transport) made sealed beam headlights mandatory. My P200E had one. It was the same size as a VW Beatle one so replacements were easy to find. Back then, car or motorcycle, you didn't replace headlamp bulbs but instead bought entire sealed beam units.

That, of course, made it very difficult to carry a spare headlamp on a bike!
