Amal air jets

I have been running an Amal carb on my sprinter and one of the things you can adjust is the air jet this jet fits in the front of the carb behind the bell mouth. it controls the depression of air around where the main jet and the and the air through the carb mix. Now I need some input from geeks , if a smaller air jet increases the depression in this area will it make it pick up more fuel ?
