5 pole reg/rectifier connections

Hi, I'm just tidying up the wiring on my newly purchased Li 225 special and I'd like to know what the connections are on the 5 pole regulator/rectifier (standard LML Vespa type). Some of them are obvious, i.e. "earth" is earth and B+ (red) I assume is 12v DC out, but what is the mysterious "C" (white) for? The two "G" connections appear to connected together internally and I gather are 12v AC (one brown wire from stator and one brown wire to loom). The electrics are basically 12v Indian electronic from what I can gather, and a battery was originally fitted that I think was used for indicators (no longer fitted). As I said I think I've got most of it sussed, but what is the "c" connection for.

How can this charge a 12V battery?
Measure the voltage across the battery with the engine off, and then with it running, as long as it rises to 13/14v DC everything is doing what it should do...
Fuse size depends what current you are drawing...
So add up the total wattage if everything was on [don't forget the brake light] and divide by V
Then go to the next size fuse up.
Generally a 10A fuse is fine, unless you have a rack of lights...
Put it as close to the battery as you can fit it, and be able to change it...

Having completed the remounting of the CDI and regulator and tidied up the wiring/earths etc, I found I was only getting approx 9v DC from the B+ terminal (no battery connected, at tickover and with higher revs).
When I connected a fully charged battery of course I had 12v, but this didn't rise to 13-14v when I reved the engine. I checked the AC at the regulator and that was only 9-10v AC (at any revs) so I guess that explains the DC out being limited to 9v!
My next step will be to disconnect the output from the stator at the regulator and check unregulated AC. Hopefully this will tell me if the problem is the regulator or the stator.

I bit the bullet and did the full 12v DC conversion. So I now have a new, hardly used 5 pin regulator and swapped over to a 12v Wassell type rectifier.
I get my kicks out on the floor.

I was thinking about doing the same, but I really fancy a SIP speedp/rev counter for Christmas and nobody seems to be able to get them working properly on a DC Lambretta.vRSG60 wrote:I bit the bullet and did the full 12v DC conversion.
