rapido/reedvalve advice

just sarting to build a rapido 240 reedvalve motor to go in my series 1. i will be using a 71mm ts1 piston with a 60mmstroke crank with a standard length rod, an lth reedvalve and a devtour pipe. will i need to alter the piston at all to use in this set up. here is a pic or 2

Wouldn´t change anything, looks pretty good.

Of course it will run, but better off selling the TS1 piston, get a Avanti or 1mm Asso & cut in the windows to match the inlet.

why sell the ts1 piston ? it allready has window cut in.

i guess the question is what position in the piston travel do the pics shown relate to ? as we have no way of knowing if the holes are in the correct place

yes ric, should have added the first 2 pics are with the piston at bdc and the bottom pic is with the piston at tdc.

i can now add that i will also be using a vhsh carb and the head is a new type af 9-5-1 ratio.

looks ok ,the ts1 piston windows dont line up to the rapido inlet left and right but no real loss
are you doing extra transfer/transfers with the reed?

would like to do a bit more, but this would be beyound my tuning skills :shock:

I used a TS1 piston in my Indial Ally 225 reed valve conversion and the windows lined up fine. Not as good as the Racetout that it replaced as that had larger squared windows but it worked ok. You could do with cutting a boost port while you're at it to help it breath better and compensate for the restriction to the inlet caused by the reeds.
