We have just finished an epic ride that I organised with some friends... 1000 miles of hard, twisty roads through some of New Zealands most scenic parts
I thought I'd share some pics:
some last minute unplanned maintenance!
Ready to roll!
The trophy I had made
we had 3 teams enter...
Team Bacon
Team Fester
And my team, Team Tu Meke
Thats me on the left, with Muttley McLadd next to me
We saw some fantastic scenery
How is this for a fantastic place to breakdown???
This was the problem... a fluffy slipper gasket
Our first day took 5 hours longer than planned!
My series 1 only had three minor problems... a dodgy plug cap, a nearly broken clutch cable
and I noticed my engine went flat on the final day... I knew what it was - my stator plate came loose! I fixed it in 20 minutes!
This was a competitors little bit of planned maintenance at the start of day 3
scooters are choice
The final day had some big hill climbs into the wind... I blew 12 litres in 90km!!!!!
The finish!
A hug from one of my twins!
The winning team - Team Fester!
one of our guys had a go pro helmet cam... this was the start of day 2. How rood is this road??? I have a little dice with him near the end, if I'd known I was on film I would have diced some more!
And finally, this was our route!

I'm already frothing on next years route!
The weather was fantastic!!!! Its autumn here now, but we had sun and 20 degrees every day!
I wore out a set of Schwalbe Weathermans! front and rear
Get in touch if you want to come over for next years ride... I'll see if I can sort a scooter out
Cheers,
Dryballs

Yup. There was a bit of straight road towards the end of day one for stretching the throttle cable.
DB is taking names for interest in next year's, if you fancy coming out to play.

Some of the most scenic bits were seen at full throttle so no pics!diesel wrote:Was all the route as scenic as the photographs show?
With the exception of half a day, the roads were perfect too! You could push as hard as you dared without fearing what was around the corner
