Spark Plug eating

Hi all anyone shed any light why my scooter eats spark plugs?
It's an tuned Imola 186, JL race pipe, 30mm PJ carb, Variatronic ignition. Does about 50-60 miles before the plug gives up and misses like a good un. Was set up on the dyno with a B9ES.
Any ideas?

not trying to scare you but maybe pre-ignition,have a look at this
http://ngkntk.co.uk/index.php/technical ... ion-range/ its a good read but ,I'd try (and use) one of these
http://lambrettaspares.com/spares/spark ... u0071.html and check your timing

Hi Guys,I have just put a B8ES in it but not run it as yet.
What does changing the heat range on the plug do? A 9 is a colder running plug than an 8.

would you be able to post a picture of the knackered plug,is it oiled up or white and also what riding are you doing, distance wise, round town or long distance.By changing the heat range the plug(basically) burns either hotter or colder, you want a hotter plug for around town or for long distance ideally a colder plug. You don't want a colder plug if you are doing stop -start shorter runs otherwise it will foul/oil up.

Still having problems with the Lammy. Put a BR8ES plug in and gave it a good run. Plug lasted about 20 miles before it started missing again.
Checked with Cam Lam who were very helpful and gave me the test settings for the Variatronic ignition system.
My question is for all those tech people out there.
When testing the wiring from the stator it should be between 230-280 ohms, I got a reading of 192.5 ohms. Any ideas if this could cause the plug issue?
Any ideas or help would be great.
Cheers Russ :0/

Sorry made a mistake in the numbers when I typed it,
To test the Stator plate - ohms meter should read
Blue is earth
red black - 280 to 380 ohms
white - red  this must be less then 20ohms.
My readings were:
Red/black - 192.5 ohms
White/red -0.9 ohms

if the stator is weak it will need replacing but as a temporary measure closing the plug gap to 0.4mm will improve the performance and plug life
