Anyone found the need to drill lubrication holes in their RB piston?
My piston is showing signs of wear to the ring land that correspond to the exhaust bridges.
I am sure I read somewhere that some people are drilling lube holes on their pistons in this area,

I'm sure I've read that AF were doing this on services to RB kits. Must be over 2 years ago though.

I always do on any rebore/ new piston. A small 1mm hole either side of the exhaust port area.
Never had any nip ups since doing this............

Thanks chaps. It's a dodgy RT piston so I'll give it a go. Maybe phone "haven't seen that before Ben" to see what they do. The piston will probably give up soon anyway, it's 1K miles old. The bottom ring will probably gum up and the the top ring will drop/wear a peg if its anything like the last two i've had.

I already had them in different scooters. TS1 engines. I won't be buying any more.

Just finished 3k top end check on my RB22.
what i did notice was the cylinder and piston were dry(no oil,to talk about).
Scorching around the gudgeon pin and small end & when i striped the carb, the jets had blackened.
I cant blame the kit, rather the oil i was using, needless to say I.ll be using castrol 747 from now on!& staying away from that flintstone stuff!

Could "Flintstone stuff" be referring to Rockoil?
