Just come down to work on me scoot. On my way down I could hear a flapping noise
from the back end. Upon checking I found all wheel nuts had become loose and the rim was about to come off. (Mb hub with press in studs already fitted by them and bought last year)
one of the studs spins in the hub now although its supposed to be presed in!
I know this has happened to a lot of people in the past but im posting this just to let you all know that even when you fit what you think is the best it is still wise to check the scoot over before going out on it!!
Its done about 60 miles this year and nylock nuts had been fitted and tightened correctly!!
im just glad I didn't come off at speed !! So even if you have fitted the best please check regularly as I wouldn't want anyone else coming a croper this way!!

spoke to Mb today who have advised trying a new stud on the one that is loose! The splines on the stud look like they have peened over a bit!
But they didnt offer an explanation on how the nuts could of come loose!
Im now wondering if the pitch on the studs or the nuts is slightly out or a combination of stainles nut and high ten stud could of been the problem but think im clutching at straws there! There was no paint to wear off causing movement of the rim on the hub if you know what I mean!
Its happened to a few people! I keep my scoots nipping clean and tighten everything properly!
im not saying its a fault with there hub though just trying to warn you all about the potential hazard!!

Just check that the thread goes far enough down the stud. I've heard of this problem with some stud (not the MB studs, though I will be checking mine carefully). If there is too much "unthreaded" stud at the bottom, the nut will tighten up as it reaches the end of the thread, but it won't actually be holding the rim tight. Do you get it?

This has also been a problem with some early tubeless rims.

It can be corrected by fitting two washers under the nut.

With tubeless you've only got one section of rims for the stud to go through as opposed to 2 on a split rims.
I won't use dome nuts as you can never tell if they've bottomed out too soon.
