Me again.

Right long range tank fitted, but the petrol tap doesn't clear the engine mount.... I've seen others have had this problem, some have cured it with a reverse exit tap, by filling the threaded part of the tank... Here's a photo what do you think I need to do?

Hi,can't you move the tank back a little?what tank is it?got any better pic's of tank in frame

It's one of those long range tanks that keep the tool bob and fill the gap of an airbox. The lip of the tank at the rest is touching the frame some can't push it back.

I have one more pic, but its not much better.

can you lift the tank up any?

No, it really is a tight fit I don't really have a whole lot of movement to play with.

Think you answered your own question in the first post then get the file out first and take off a little at a time.

Can you undo the straps rotate it a little anti clockwise?

The thread on the tank does look long tho'...

I know I've argued before that we should all push back when we get stuff that doesn't fit but TBF there's tolerances, not all frames are the same over 30 odd years of production, made in at least three different countries...I guess we're lucky anyone's still making parts at all

In the case of tanks like this there ought to be some 'wiggle room'...

I think the best thing is to identify the tank. I have a ss products one that fills the air box space and the same tap as you and no issues. I would hazard a guess that all the ss products ones dont have this issue with the correct tap. If yours is a ssp one, you will know the tap is the issue. Also if you can identify it you may find some one who has the same and has a fix thats not such a pain in the ass....

PS you ought to stick a rag in that inlet or it will attract anything loose in your garage...
