changing the head on my rapido from a standard one to one of these from AFR just ordered it http://www.afrayspeed.co.uk/index.php?p ... buteID=HEA can I expect any improvement speed/acceleration wise or is it just going to be harder to kick up? I'm already thinking may drop the timing back to 17.Any advise or experience of these appreciated, thank you.

Originally one of these http://www.afrayspeed.co.uk/index.php?p ... tributeID= 8:1.You may wonder why I'm changing it,its not through choice, doing plug chops over the weekend (see http://scooterotica.org/forum/viewtopic ... 21084\)and I fecked the thread up for the sparkplug :x ,need the scoot for next weekend so rather than mess about with helicoils etc ordered a new head.I'll get the other one done at a later date.

Not a high comp head but its higher than you have been running. I'd drop the timing a bit and definitely check the jetting.
If you chance it, you may get away with it but a different head can significantly alter your engines performance/ jetting /temp etc, especially if your pushing your compression up a bit.
If you have been running a very low comp head like 8:1 and your going higher, i'd check all your settings thoroughly.
I ran one of those 8:1 compression heads on my monza for a while because i liked the thick sealing area and then i went from that to an MB 10:1 compression head and it felt like a bloody rocket compared to running the old AF one.

Cheers nelson pk,that's what I was after, I have ordered various head gaskets so I can get the squish right and I think its back to square 1 with the carb.timing wise I'm still using 12v AC static ,so I think I'll put it back to 17 to be on the safe side. Thanks again.
