While I am at it with the questions, I thought I would ask another.

Is the BGM shock the be all and end all of shocks, or is there other adjustable shocks out there which cost less but are as good? Or is it a case of buy cheap buy twice?

If you just want a good shock, then you can't beat an Escort rear shock for quality and durability.

Well; they look very pretty. But they just sit under your panel getting covered in crap. I'm with johnd on this one. I have a fancy shock on one scooter and a plain old Escort on another. To be honest the Escort is just as good and of course it's a damn site cheaper.

Hmm interesting food for thought, I am always being told good shocks and good tyres make the biggest difference to your handling. So there's no real difference in ride quality between your two shocks?

VFM you cant beat an escort damper,cheap enough to treat as a throwaway item once its fecked,but you want adjustable? I have recently changed from an escort and S83 tyres to an R1 shocker and Conti twist race tyres ,the difference (to me) is quite startling,handles a lot better.If that's the tyres or the shock I don't know,but I'm pleased with it

I'm not sure you could take that as being conclusive. The S83 isn't the sort of tyre to encourage you to throw a scooter around anyway, so of course it's going to be better.

No; personally speaking I'd say there is little or no difference between the two. But what I will say is that what suits one might not suit another. It works for me, but as DaveTomo said you alter certain factors and it will change everything. You'll only find out what suits your style through experience and it's probably better to start out with something like an Escort before spending big bucks. You might get on fine with it.

I'm using one i bought nine years ago and its still good. I also have a well sorted R1 shock, but thats not so good on paved roads over here in belgium, great on the track though.

Iverecently swapped my Escort for an R1 with the 180lb spring and the back end feels so much better controlled than my 6 month old Escort.

Protech shock, fully adjustable, depends where you buy them £110- £140 ask for a softer spring though, they are fitted standard with a 280 -320lb progressive spring
