Which are the best type?
General wisdom was the cheapo SIL ones. Is that still the case and if so are the two or three hole ones best.

As a matter of interest, was it the kick start side that went? only that side gets more stress than the flywheel side so possibly not a fair test.

2 hole SIL genuine or for original looks, 3 hole genuine SIL. Better quality and a cheaper price. Who can argue against that?

And a few of us fill the void in the back with silicone too.

What advantage does that give and is there a downside?

No downside, and can give a bit of extra support to the mount. May even prolong life of mount. I had some Injun mounts that came on my scoot that were rubber all the way through. They were shagged through bouncing through all the potholes in Bangalore

Original Injun on left, new SIL mount on right (before injecting silicone sealant)
