SIP Speedo Wiring

Hi All,

When it comes to electrics I'm a bit of a dunce so any help on this would be appreciated :)

Just looking to install my Sip speedo into my GP with 12v/AC & looking through the instruction booklet it mentions connecting the red & the brown wires of the sip speedo to original power wire e.g speedo illumination or parking light. Are these permanant supplies as I thought these are switched as they only come live when you turn the ignition key to position 2 :?

Any help from those that may have already installed one would be much appreciated. Just don't want to start guessing what to connect the red/brown wires to & see it all go pop

Apart from that looks a piece of cake to install :)

Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike
The red and brown wires need a 12V supply (DC or AC). If you connect these to the Brown wire from your loom and the black wire to earth it should work (at least it did for me, on a Wasell DC conversion). :)
I've put a bit more detail here: http://scooterotica.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=20931

Cheers,
Nigel

Thanks Nigel :)

Not going to wire it up tonight but just having a look at how I'm going to route the wiring & where to place the SIP little black box. I assume this will go in the headset some how. It's looking a little cramped in there

Cheers

My box fitted easily down the far right side as you sit facing. It was suggested that double sided tape would keep it in place and stop it rattling but I haven't bothered yet but seems a good shout.

My box fitted in the top of the GP headset just in front of the speedo and behind the headlamp junction box. I agree with Timbo, double sided tape would do the trick :)
