S2 & S3 Frame Differences?

What are the geometric differences between a S2 and S3 frame with regards to engine/expansion pipe fitting that warrant different rear shock lengths and specific expansion pipes? Why is this?

the actual tube frame is the same ...series 1 / 2 sat higher ..hence the longer shock and different links ..pipe is just due to the body work

Cheers Ric.
So the top shock mount is higher, and fork links are different? Would S3 shock and links cause any issue on a S2?

Apart from the obvious what are the bodywork issues that affect the pipe fitment?

the shock mount is same for all li series .. series 3 stuff on series 2 should be fine ..issues only arise with reed clearance

the rear runner mount although in the same position as s3 its just the amount of metal that extends back from the fixing point in comparison to s3 runners that causes clearance issues

Shocky, from Cheltenham, forward some pictures to me showing the differences in fork links. The fork links sit in a different angle between SII and SIII, as to cope with the higher frame difference. However, this doesn't matter that much I guess since TV175 series II's in Spain had SIII engines and SIII disc brake fork links.

absolutely .. you will need to trim the rear board for the pipe .. or if you are creative with the welder .. ;)

TJ's got a SM currently going in his series 2 spineframe and Charley's making him a pipe specifically for the S2 frameset to ensure there's no clearance issues.
