Am I missing something obvious, got a px125 disc, engine runs ok and not had it apart, can't get the clutch to work it will not disengage from drive have tried 2 different clutchs, dremel turrets down to 22mm, soaked plates overnight, got the autolube drive cog on the right way round . Any suggestions as it's starting to drive me slightly insane (more than normal anyway).

Any help appreciated

i"ve been using 1mm distance washers from SIP on top of the drive gear to get a better pull on the clutch. in fact , ive stopped using COSA clutches, and have been buying old style 3 plate ones, they are a lot less hassle drag/slip wise. in fact, on my 177 vespa , i run a small 6 spring 3 plate clutch with DR springs, and have had no bother with it.

I take it you've put the slotted brass actuator nipple thing that pushes on the centre disc of the clutch, on the end of the clutch arm ?

Have a look at the cosa steel plates for flatness, especially the one with the notch.

You do know what order sequence the steels need to go in the basket?

Cheers

I have checked plates to see if any are warped and yes thick steel, then the one with 2 notchs then the 2 that are the same, with cork between them.:frog:

Try replacing the notched one with a 3rd. thinner one (another of 'the ones that are the same' ones).

You need at least 1mm free movement on the plates compressed on the bench. Some manufacturers thicker corks are plain too fat and lardy to ever work :-(
