Can anyone please tell me where the little brass olive goes on a speedo cable? Does it go around the bare metal or over the cable plastic outer? I've currently got it fitted over the bare metal but its not doing anything and the cable can be pulled from the drive with ease. Any comments or advice much appreciated.

over the bare metal at the hub end- you will need to strip some of the plastic covering off the cable outer, and then gently hip the olive up to hold it in place.

Also, some outers are fractionally too long, so if your speedo doesn't work, cut back the whole outer cable by 1/4 inch or so until the inner engages properly

Cheers for that Chris. One more question if you'd be so kind, does it go on the inside of the hub or outside under the the threaded part? I hope that makes sense. Thanks again Pete.

Hi,the brass olive goes on the outside of the hub,it sits on the outer speedo cable right on the end, what you do is you put the nut with the plastic tube attatched to it on the outer cable first the the olive goes on after ,you will then find that as you tighten the nut up the olive will clamp its self onto the outer cable stopping the cable from pulling out.

They tend to be a bit hit and miss these days re length- once its running OK it should be alright assuming the speedo head is OK
