Legsheild end caps

So is there a knack to fitting these end caps. the ones at the bottom of the beading. Iv'e got 2 set of end caps, stainless and non-stainless but they don't fit anywhere near where they should be.
They are orignal legsheilds so i'm opposed to drilling more holes, but the caps don't line up and the beading doesn't fit inside properly to get a nice straight finish.
If i do drill a hole, to get the caps in line, the hole would have to be put through the crease in the legsheild that the beading feeds into.
How the f@@k are these things supposed to go on, should just be a simple straight forward job but it's driving me crazy.

Cheers.

Hi mate, I had exactly the same problem as you are having. In the end I filed down the bottom clamp on the side that sits under the legshields. This way they sit straight and don't want to twist and sit uneven in the way you have described. I may also of taken a bit of the top one too ( it was ages ago ) it may sound a bit of a bodge but it works well and you will be had pressed to notice it's been filed. Cheers I hope you get it sorted.

Hi mate,
Thanks for that. I may just do the same. the bottom cap is catching on the front crossmember on the underside so maybe just shaving a bit off might make it fit.

Is it just me or is there no such thing as 'that quick 10 minute job!'

Cheers.
