Ive got a 1990 taffy pipe on my T5 and today i took it off so i could get my top end off for a rebore

i thought while it was off id sort it out as its a bit rusty and needs some tlc.
my problem is the end can seems loose, not by much but you can see the rivets arent tight. When ive been out on it you can see where its been blowing where its not a tight seal.
can i use something to seal it or do i need to take the end can off, seal it and re rivet.??
ive only just started doing all my own repairs and ive got half a clue what to do but i really need to tap in to some of the knowledge you lot have.

cheers
andy

Sounds like you need to drill the rivets out and redo them

Hi Andy,

If your exhaust has rivits holding the muffler section together then it is pre 1996 manufacture made by JL Exhausts.

Just drill out the rivits & renew the wadding & chsck that the perferated tube is still attatched inside?

This was one of the many faults JL never fixed for us hence the newer design with a bolt on muffler unit.

Glad to see it is still giving service after 12 + Years!
