SIP Speedo

Hi, anyone know if the SIP speedo is supplied with the external speed sensor or is that an extra £25?

Don't forget you may also need the bracket depending on how you plan to mount it:

Just be aware that the sensor is available with different length cables. So if you know what length you need, you may need to order a slightly different part number to the one linked above.

Well Colin, that really depends on what you intend the "sensor" to sense.
I chose to "sense" the wheel studs on the rear hub and made my own bracket:



If you pick up something on the front wheel/hub, the sensor has to move with the suspension (so the sensor is in a fixed position relative to the wheel/hub), so the damper top mount wouldn't work.
I have seen pictures of the bracket (first type) mounted on the caliper mounting plate of a ScootRS external hydraulic disc setup to sense the disc mounting bolts.
If you use the external sensor you can remove the speedo drive unit to clean up the look of the front end like this:



It takes a bit of thought and there was another very neat mounting solution (although maybe a bit more work) for a more standard look on this thread:
