Hi all,

I have just recently got my Px back from the spray shop and want to fit a Legshield trim on before the rebuild. I have in the past fitted the original silver trim which to be fair is a real Ba**ard of a job although when fitted doeas look pretty good and original. However, these are really hard to fit and there's a real chance of chipping the paintwork. Has anyone got any tip on how to easily fit the original silver trim

I am also considering fitting the black trim (as fitted on later models). Can anyone tell me are these easier to fit (are they more flexible) and what are the best type to purchase and from whom.

Thanks in advance and all the best,

Chris

Believe there is a special tool required -

I didn't have the tool either, so what I did was invent a way to crimp on the metal trim.
I used a combination of a mole grip, hot glue sticks, and a flat scraper.
The glue sticks fit the inside curvature of the trim nicely. The scraper distributes the crushing force of the mole grip across the glue stick as you work your way along the length of the trim piece. Wrap the mole grip in tape or a rag so it would not bite the outside of the legshield, or slide a putty knife under the teeth.

The trick is to crimp slightly as you move along, gradually pinching the trim into place without kinking.
A second set of hands helps.
