Hello, I'm building a px125/150 engine with a polini 177kit. What can be done to longer the gear ratio (polini/malossi primary drive kit?) and can I put a stock px200 clutch on it to get a few kmh more? Thnx

a P200 clutch wont fit, because the drive cog is 23 tooth , and the most you can fit on px125 primary drive is a 22 tooth. if you fit a polini 177, i"d go for a 21 tooth clutch, you dont have to buy a full clutch , just a 21 tooth cog to fit on your clutch.

if its a 150, the gearing will probably be ok as is.

my friend fitted a px200 clutch on a similar engine (i think was a px150) so i'm confused.... can i expect real 120-130kmh with 22 tooth clutch?

he will have had a p200 primary drive fitted. a "p200" clutch is just a normal clutch, its the drive sprocket that makes it a "p200" clutch. whats 130kmh? 75mph? the answer is probably "NO" it depends on the rest of your tune, carb/exhaust/cut crank/porting etc. at the end of the day, its a budget kit, dont expect it to be an R1. loadsa lads round here run kitted PX"s, mainly for monetary reasons, and i keep having to tell them that its cheap tuning, dont expect the earth, expect 5-10 reliable MPH .

excuse me for my bad english in engine parts terminology

so let me reform the question:
what teoretical top speed on a polini177 with bigger carb and lefthand pipe would i have with the 23-64 polini/malossi kit, and what with just a clutch with 22 or 23 teeth sprocket on standard gearbox? thnx

Just picked up my PX125 fitted with a DR180 kit from alan (diablo moto) who had fitted a 22 tooth sprocket for me, since i am slightly large it requires a few revs to get away but pulls ok.
On the M1 i was cruising at 6000/6500 rpm and at one point was doing 7000
Alan says 22/68 = 10mph per 1000 rpm
Very happy :bouncing:

previous p125 engine i had a polini 177 on had a terribly short gearbox, but it pulled like hell to about 95kmh

smoked out my friend's vespa gts 200 with malossi multivar and intake/exhaust mod

now i want to race my other friend's gilera runner 180sp, so i need that top speed :baddevil:

Wait! Hold the presses! What's all this then? 70 MPH bloody hell! I just spit coffee all down my shirt, I'll send my dry cleaning bill.
(inside joke)
