which gearbox?

Ok, in the end I decided to go for a rapido classic 225 kit. I'll be using a mikuni TMX 35mm carb and a NK rally exhaust.
I was planning on using a completely standard SX200 gearbox, but before I go ahead ith the build I just want to hear what other people think. Would a GP200 box be better? Or would a 16 tooth front sprocket be better?
Cheers in advance.

This is for a touring tune setup that is.

A lot smaller carb would be better for touring giving better torque and fuel economy. I have never used a sx box as a gp set up is easier on the clutch because it uses a bigger front sprocket

The carb is free though

hence the reason for using it.

Free because it's too big and too thirsty? It will work but not ideal tbh I had one on my rapido 250 and it was as efficient as a drain pipe. Put a 28mm delly on and i was getting nearly twice the mpg with no loss of speed but more pull thru the gears

If the carb is free then sell it and buy something better suited.

I used sx 200 box for years. good for rallies/long stretches. Tended to drag in traffic, when motor got hot.
Tend to use li 150 17/48,or li125 18/47 these days.
My mate still uses sx200 box for last 15 years, with no problems.

I think I may run the risk with the carb, a few people I have spoke say they are good. I guess it is all down to personal opinion.
Any more opinions on gearboxes will be much appreciated.

Good for what? Why would advice on gearboxes be given when you dismiss the advice given above? Listen to what's being said

You will be fine with an SX200 box.Been using that box for the past 10yrs on my GP.Used to use Taff springs, got Readspeed springs in now.
