just offering the gears up and the layshaft sits higher than the 1st gear , all components are new ie italian layshaft , indian casing and second hand tv200 gearbox , just looking in sticky book and it says it isnt possible to shim it up , any help would be good , thanks Steve

take layshaft out and remove the o ring shaving that is stopping layshaft going home fully, you get this sometimes when you use a bearing that has not got a chamfer on inside edge

the layshaft o ring that goes inside rear hub bearing is often too big in the kits you buy and when you knock it in hub bearing it drags an shaving of oring of outside of oring and sits this between bearing and layshaft causing layshaft to sit to high

It won't be that causing your problem. That may of happened but it wont effect the gears, when you slide the loose cogs on the're backing onto a boss on the shaft, so where the shaft is in the casing won't effect it. You need to swap the layshaft for one with a shorter distance from the boss to the shim surface.
