Thinking of upgrading to one of these any advice on how easy they are to fit ie cables and choke etc. Would ppl run these open mouth or with remote filter. Going on an af stg4 175 with clubman 22mm jetex has been getting a bit temperamental. Thanks for the info

easy enough to fit,you could go for a delly 30 or a 26 (same size body as a 28) or a 25.You've quite a few options as regards running it through the airbox or with a filter, maybe a breathe sweet or open mouthed.I run mine open mouthed under full panel work with a homemade "tea strainer " filter. The throttle cable inner and outer will need to be changed for an extra long one and also a new choke cable, can highly recommend getting this off knowledge/Martin Leech as he can make them to order in either grey or black and a perfect fit,you just tell him what carb, cable colour and which side the carb is on.Also its better to run the throttle cable on the other side of the runner boards so that it comes up on the same side as the choke lever and all your gear cables then over the top so that you get a flowing loop in the cable to the carb.Fast flow fuel tap, make sure its a rubber mounted carb as well. This will give you an idea of jetting etc http://scooterotica.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=14 also do a few plug chops
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order.

28mm way to big you'll just chug fuel and struggle to set up with a filter.
A 25mm PHBL much better.
Knowledge on here does some good choke cables.
You may just get away with the original outer throttle if you use a carb elbow but will need an extra long throttle cable with the nipple at the carb end. Thread it through and use a solderless nipple in the headset.

I recently went from 25 to 28 Dellorto, it's runs OK and have a foam filter on. I don't think the difference is huge in performance. I also have a Knowledge choke cable.

On another note getting your ignition right is far better to do before you start jetting options IMO.

thanks for the advice lads its always run perfect but recently been difficult warm starting. I wasnt that bothered about that much more performance as it is what it is so never gonna be a flyer just wanted a more modern carb thanks again for the advice. Ill get it dynoed when its fitted and set up right well worth it for £40 plus whatever it needs good for peace of mind
