hi,ive posted a similar post asking your opinions of actual users of the ads3 pipe,id like to do the same for the mb reed valve before i invest.
So....who is using one...what do you think?
what barrel are you using
i realise im not going to bolt one one and its going to just work,i intend to cut a boost port and use a piston with windows.
basically im asking people who have the reed valve....is it worth the investment...what have you gained.
many thanks in advance

I'm using one with an Indian Ally barrel, boost port and windows in the piston. I'm very pleased with it, I wanted to reduce the spit back through the carb and it has pretty much eliminated that. I'm still fiddling with it and have learnt a lot and will probably do another barrel BUT I recently added up how much I've spent on playing about with these ally barrels and was shocked to find it was well over £700

ok, £200 or so of that was before I fitted the reed valve but it does all add up. £140 ish for the MB reed and manifold then throw in a piston or 3 and you are knocking on thr door of a TS1

Ask Jason frost from absolutely scooters... He runs one on his own scooter, and has fitted a few.. Mb reed valves to other bikes.. He will be able to give you the pros and cons etc...

What's the 250 like on fuel? Did you convert it from a running piston port 250 or build it with the reed valve?

Better than it was on piston port I have to be honest and say by how much I do not know. (Better than my boy's RB20 :bouncing: )
The first Rapido barrel was run piston ported but I quickly became tired of fuel all over floor boards and panel as well as on engine, so was boost ported as well as piston being modified BUT then the stud threads ripped out and it was reving on very well till it seized (we all know that one ) 2 up coming back from the Ron Moss open day on the A27. Wifey was on back so Avanti kit was more or less signed & sealed at that point LOL.
So new crankcase and another Barrel/Piston an MBD 60mm crank with 110mm rod 3mm packer was used on rebuild LTH V2 reed valve replaced byMBD Reed Valve piston cut but but barrel left stock for comparison to previous boost ported barrel.
How does it compare well it's an all round stump puller if I was to say power comes in at around 4200 its not a startling change and with the ads 3 it revs through to 6800 it carry's on reving but it's more noise than go.
Oh an it sounds more like a crosser than a lambretta
Hope that helps
