I remember seeing these years ago when riders mainly racers would machine the fins down and then attach the plastic fins from a washing machine.

your not mad - i had one it came on the mk 1.5 px125e i have - it was skimmed so the markings are lost - it was the one that give years of use but sadly cracked in two last year.

it was a heavy type with a window and rubber bung.

CDi was also marked ducati and zanussi

If my italian industrial history serves my right the Ducati brothers established the DUCATI company in 1926; 22 years later, DUCATI was split in two other companies, DUCATI Elettrotecnica and DUCATI Meccanica (today DUCATI Motor).

In 1985 DUCATI Elettrotecnica and Zanussi Elettromeccanica merged to form DUCATI Energia - so around that time the ducati and zanussi name appeared on products

all the best

it has "83" and 2 dots in the date circle thing, so guessing it"s february 1983 as the time of maufacture, which puts it around the time of the "mk1 and a half" PX"s. ive probably had one before , just never noticed . it has the "rubber bung" hole cast over. the one i run on my px180 is a points ignition one , that has the overlapping magnets from an electronic flywheel! they probably just used what they could get at the time.

looking at some other bits on this motor, the electronic coil is made by "Plessey". its the original coil, rusted screws holding it to the original bracket. whats even wierd-er, is there was a Plesseys electronic factory in Sunderland!
