water is a by product of combustion and mostly why exhausts rot from the inside out...a glassfull does seem excessive tho'

Hi there,
Also modern fuel which contains Ethanol is more prone to contain water as Ethanol is hydroscopic. This maybe a reason for more water to appear in the fuel system and exhaust than usual?

I tend to stick to regular fuels which contain less Ethanol than "high" octane products and add octane booster and use quality two stroke oil that is methanol/ethanol compatable.

Saying all that, water vapour will naturally condense in an exhaust as it cools
Cheers

Ian

Eurolambretta last year. Just leaving for ferry. Got to petrol station on outskirts of Killarney but running was really bad - spluttery and having to keep revs high to keep going. Filled up and then wouldn't start.

After checking the usual, I noticed water seeping out of the expansion chamber. Then I remembered..................

I'd had a half full bottle of water sat on my my runners over the weekend. When I came to pack up it was empty. The previous evening there had been a couple of kids sat by our scoots.................

I think your first instinct may be right ;)

IIRC one gallon of petrol when burnt will produce 15 gallons of water. If you have been pootling about in the recent cold snap, then its possible the vapour produced has condensed in your pipe rather than being blown out as per usual.
