Hi all,
just mulling through a new engine set up to put together.got a new 200 case,28 delly,a sil 200 and a muggy 225 barrel, ive a like new jl2 which im trying to sell at the mo as im toying with going down the torque low reving route this time for a change, also im toying with boost porting these barrels and using an mb reed valve...
so what i have read about the ads 3 is that its is the most torqueiest low reving pipe on the market,so what are people experience,s with this pipe and your set up/gear ratios...also what is the ride experience like?
i realise it has been covered before no doubt, but your up to date thoughts would be appreciated
many thanks

See my post on the Avanti Kit to see an ADS tour pipe compared to a Franspeed Race....

now thats put a spanner in my thoughts....so on that particular kit the franspeed virtually matches the ads3 for torque but revs further......so is anyone using the ads on the road that would like to comment on the characteristics?im after a punch low down the revs but its pointless if im going to lose over rev with the ads if im not going to gain torque against the said franspeed

The ADS 3 does have low down punch, but does also 'stone wall' after peak rpm (which is very low) so if not geared correctly it can feel like the scooter runs out of steam too quick. The Franspeed Race however is a very versatile pipe, match it to your desired porting spec and i can't see you being disappointed.

I have an ADS3 and love it!
As said before it does need high gearing.
Also, it's loud (or at least mine is) because it has a 26mm stinger + silencer and it bottoms out easily in right hand corners.
I don't know about cornering clearance on the franspeed...

Got mine fitted on a GT186 with sx200 gearing which does suit the pipe and compared to the clubman that was on previously it has totally transformed the bike.
Had a few issues fitting it though as the pipe wouldn't fit properly into the stub manifold for the cast barrel. Fortunately I noticed before I tried to fit it to the scooter. It slid easily into the TS1 sub but where the tube is ovalled to fit the flange for the cast stub it had distorted it all and the pipe wouldn't go in more than a few millimetres. A few hours of dremelling the stub, squeezing it in the vice and eventually cutting about 8mm off the end of the pipe itself meant it went on but I still had the slot the holes in the crankcase mount by about 8mm to get it to fit unstressed.
It was one of the first ones though (the one used in the scootering test I believe) so this may have been a one off and I've got to say that Martin from Chiselspeed was very helpful on the phone and offered to send out a new stub.
The fitting probs I had were soon forgotten though, absolutely love the pipe.

I've got an ADS3 on my TS230 (used to be adam's!). It's really nice to ride. You don't need to rev it 'til it runs out!
