Hi folks, building a engine for a friend with a Rapido Classic kit, Lth Reed Manifold, PHBH 30bs carb and Cam Lam breath sweet rubber hose and hose. The side panel presses against the hose and does seem to cause running problems :o . We dont want to cut a hole in the panel so now we are looking for a Mardchald type filter. No way to find any measure information on the web about this filters. Does someone have any measure? any other type of filter recomended? Any experience with LTH reed valve and PHBH? Thanks in advance.

Yup, same issues for me with an RT top end, LTH manifold, 30mm PHBH and a Mardchald filter, all supplied and built by MB. Ended up having to cut a large hole in the panel to get it to breath properly, this was on a GP. The engine is again with MB, having one of his Reed Manifolds fitted, and a further tune done....... I still think a hole will be required so as not to stifle the engine........... if you want it to run efficiently ?
Old Lambrettas Never die ..................... they just go Faster !

You are righr Darrel, with a PHBH the carb mouth is too near the panel. I ended up using a 28/30 PWK with the reed rubber inverted. This gives a very pronounced down draft and the breath sweet fits under the panel.

I fitted the LTH reed valve and a 30mm PHBH on my Mugello
To get it to run proper I had to cut the GP panel to get a filter on also abit of the rear runner to clear the bowl

Even with the MB manifold which is supposed to be shorter it wiil stll be too close to the panel.

get a different carb?
one that is shorter and runs better! Why not try a TMX30 Mikuni or a Keihen 28/30?
