cannot get headlamp to work with new ignition switch??

hi i hope someone can help
ive fitted a scootrs ignition switch on my series 2 on the old remade light switch that fell apart the lights worked this switch had 7 wires the extra wire is purple, ive now been given another light switch which has only 6 wires and i cannot get the headlight to work the brake light and the horn both work can someone please help with what i am doing wrong
have i got to join wires together or something
