PX Disc Brake Conversion.

Hi All,
The front drum brake on my '91 PX200 is next to useless, so I was thinking of uprgrading to disc.
So far I've seen various kits available but I'm confused about the pros and cons of each one, and which is the best one to go for. Would it not be easier to get the necessary parts off a bent/scrapped PX disc model? Are they rare or expensive?
I'm new to scooters and I'm still finding my way round my PX. By the way, as it's a '91 model what diameter will the front axle be? As I've found that some models are 16mm and others are 20mm!!
As usual, any help appreciated.

PX Disc front end is the way to go and the cheapest usually. You should be able to pick up a front end complete with all bits including bottom headset and master cylinder for £150 or so.
You`ll have a 20mm axle in your scooter.

Thanks for the reply.
Would an LML front end be an option?
Are the bits difficult to get hold of?
And where's the best place to look?
Cheers.

I forgot to ask...
If I just bought the bits I need i.e. hub, caliper, caliper mounting bracket, hydraulic hose, master cylinder c/w lever would that do it?
I'm just thinking about saving carriage if I could use my existing forks as I'm nearly sure no one round where I live will have a set up for sale and , as usual, I'll have to get one from further afield. Do I have to get a new bottom headset?
Any other bits I need?
Does it make any difference that mine's a Douglas Vespa?

I'd get someone to have a look at your drum set up. If working properly, the front drums on coops should be very good. I'd look down that road first. Might just need a day of fiddling and fixing - saving you a lot of bother.

I've roughed up the shoes and the drum and adjusted it, but it has not made any real improvement. I've maybe been spoiled because all the bikes I have had up to now have had good disc front brakes - apart from my first fizzer, but that is so long ago I can't remember if it was any good. (OMG that was over thirty years ago!!)

I know I'm reviving an old topic here, but I've read somewhere that the disc brake off an ET4 fit onto a PX, though the disc is on the other side of the wheel (which doesn't bother me to be honest). Is this true?
If so, which parts do I need to convert it?
TIA
