Just treated the GP to a new rear shock to replace the old Taffspeed one, its a Protech fully adjustable unit, before I fitting I noticed written on the bottom of the spring were the adjustable spring stop is, 275-350 which I assume is a progressive spring rating of 275lb - 350lb I just wondered how these rates compared to other suspension units, it was always a bit firm with the old Taffy shock, it does feel ok on the road, just curious really to see what other people think, the scoot is generally ridden solo and I`m not a heavyweight.

From memory the R1 shocks are 180/225 , the weight ratio should relate to pre 1980s and late 2000s
14 1/2 stone and ride mainly 1-up you only need a 180lbs spring, over 14 1/2 or ride mainly 2-up go for the 225lbs.

I noticed this anomoly on my Protech, the Rich Presley site confirms this too...

Andy is correct too as my previous R1 shock had a 180lb spring. I have no idea what the cross reference criteria is, but Protech supply direct,

Nice shock too
